Give the project team a usable site brief
This guide concerns an initial civil aerial-imaging discussion. It is not a verified Chilean customer case, a description of a particular site or a flight plan.
“Challenging terrain” and “clear video” leave a project team with very different possible interpretations. A useful first brief explains what needs documenting, who can answer questions about the place and what the intended recipient needs from the images. It can be prepared before discussing a particular aircraft.
Name the information the images should provide
Describe the civil asset or area to be documented and the question the images should help someone answer. For example, a request for a visual record needs an explanation of what the recipient will compare or retain. Do not replace that explanation with an assumed camera specification.
Say whether the recipient needs live viewing, saved material or both. If several people will use the output, identify their different needs instead of treating “video” as a complete deliverable.
Attach context with an explanation
Ask the site contact for current ground photographs or other existing background material that they are permitted to share. A small, understandable set is more useful than an unlabeled folder. Attach a short note to each item:
- Subject: what it shows and how it relates to the requested imagery.
- Date: when it was captured, or a clear statement that the date is unknown.
- Context: anything the recipient needs to avoid misunderstanding the view, such as changes since the image was made.
- Sharing: who supplied it and any restrictions they have stated.
Do not label equipment photographs as views of the proposed site. Keep known ground-access restrictions with the brief, without trying to turn the background material into an operating plan.
