Civil application reference · Desktop maintenance
An update and your preferred setup are different results
Imagine an owner preparing DJI Goggles 3 for a seated review of civilian FPV footage. The owner wants to maintain the headset without losing track of personal choices. This is a hypothetical desk session: no goggles were connected and no firmware result is reported.
01 · Before
Updates can reset parameters; note personal settings first.
Copy the actual menu label and value, not “my usual setup.” A precise entry can be compared later; a remembered impression cannot identify which choice differed.
02 · Desktop update
With sufficient goggles power and computer internet, power on and connect by USB-C. For a fast-charging USB-C lead, enable Settings > About > OTG Wired Connection first.
Open DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series), sign in, select the goggles, choose Firmware Update and confirm the desired version. After the download, installation starts automatically; completion triggers a restart.
Keep the cable connected. Screen blanking or restarts can be normal; wait for completion.
03 · Compare afterward
After completion, restore your recorded preferences.
In the example, one entry now differs. The earlier note supplies a specific target instead of a guessed universal default. An entry with no before-value stays unknown; do not quietly turn today's observation into yesterday's choice.
The software family matters
DJI's update guide places Goggles 3 in the Consumer Drones Series group, separately from older goggles assigned another Assistant edition. Its app example concerns Mavic Air 2; it is not this headset's desktop procedure.
