Keep recovery separate
Assume an authorized FPV stills collection has both a catalog ZIP and an independent original-photo backup. This fictional recovery preserves the working library and backups.
Extract the archive into a new folder, retaining the matching pair below. Copy the saved photographs into a separate recovery folder; the catalog backup does not contain them.

In Lightroom Classic, choose File → Open Catalog and open this extracted copy. If a thumbnail shows the missing-photo icon in Grid view, select the icon. Choose Locate, identify the corresponding actual photograph in the photo-copy folder, then Select.
A broken reference is not proof that pixels were deleted.
Confirm the expected photograph and its recorded edits in the opened copy before continuing. This reconnects existing material; it cannot recreate an absent backup.
