Ask about the particular picture, not “the photos”
Permission to use an image is easier to discuss when the request identifies one picture and one proposed use. This civilian reference follows the image-application theme of the historical Syria article. The retained title does not verify a Syrian customer relationship, and the workshop pictures do not establish a local project.
A request a recipient can answer
Start by identifying the existing image in a way the recipient can recognize, such as its supplied filename and a short description. Then explain the proposed publication or presentation. A private discussion, an internal guide and a public web page are different contexts; do not ask about one while planning another.
An illustrative request might read: “May we use the identified workshop image in the equipment reference described below? The audience will be the readers of that guide. We propose to retain the full image and add a caption describing the visible workbench. Please tell us whether you can authorize that use and whether a credit is required.”

- Identify the exact supplied file. A link to a whole folder leaves the requested selection uncertain.
- Presentation
- Explain where the picture would appear and whether you propose a crop, annotation or other change.
- Response
- Keep any stated conditions with the reply, rather than reducing it to a detached “yes.”
Do not widen the answer
An answer concerning one use should not be silently extended to a different publication or a modified image. If the recipient says someone else handles permission, direct the question there without treating the first contact as approval. This is a communication practice, not a determination of ownership or legal entitlement.
The caption should remain within the picture's actual context. Permission to publish a workshop photograph would not make it evidence of a delivery, a country location, a performance result or a customer's endorsement. Those are separate factual claims.
