Two imaging channels · One compact payload
Choose the visible and thermal views around the inspection
FD G120 combines a visible camera and a thermal imager on a three-axis stabilized gimbal. It suits a civil UAV project that needs to examine the appearance of a scene and its heat pattern without selecting two separate camera assemblies. The practical choice is how those views reach the operator, what is recorded locally, and how the assembly fits the aircraft.
The visible channel uses a 5 MP sensor and a fixed 3.5 mm lens. The thermal channel is separately specified at 384 × 288 pixels with a 7 mm lens. Their different fields of view matter when an inspection moves from broad visible context to a smaller thermal feature.

Visible detail and scene context
The visible lens covers 100° horizontally and 52° vertically. Its listed 30x magnification is electronic zoom. This can change the displayed framing, but it does not turn the fixed lens into a 30x optical-zoom camera. For a marking, fitting or other small feature, describe its size and the intended viewing distance when requesting a camera package.
A separate thermal perspective
The thermal imager has a 24.8° horizontal and 18.7° vertical field of view, a 12 µm pixel spacing and an 8–14 µm spectral range. The frame-rate entry is no more than 25 Hz. These are thermal-channel specifications; neither visible-camera zoom nor visible recording resolution describes the thermal image.

Separate the live picture from the saved file
| Image path | Documented G120 output | Selection question |
|---|---|---|
| Visible live view | 1280 × 720 at 30 fps | Which display or application will receive the picture? |
| Visible local video | 2880 × 1620 at 30 fps; H.265 | Is local recording part of the inspection deliverable? |
| Visible photographs | 2880 × 1620 | Are still images needed for later review? |
| Network viewing | Separate visible and thermal RTSP streams | Does the selected receiver/application handle both streams? |
The two RTSP streams make the receiving arrangement a useful part of camera selection. Identify the controller, air-side receiver and viewing software together. An Ethernet connector on another device does not by itself prove that its software displays both G120 channels or provides the required camera controls. The manual also distinguishes the camera's power connection from the network video connection.

Include the mount in the aircraft fit
The listed 117 g mass and 62 × 65 × 86 mm dimensions include the quick-release damping plate. Add any aircraft adapter, cable and other installation parts to the payload budget. Review the gimbal's moving envelope as well as its resting dimensions, particularly where landing gear or nearby structure could restrict the view.
Controllable travel is −90° to +10° in pitch, ±90° in yaw and ±45° in roll. The manual gives a 22 × 34 mm mounting-hole spacing and supports suspended or inverted installation modes. Confirm the delivered fasteners and mounting arrangement with the package; the English and Chinese fixing notes are not completely consistent.

Power
The camera input is listed as 12–80 V DC. The 210 mA operating-current entry is qualified at 12 V. Check the selected supply and cable as a camera requirement rather than substituting a receiver's input rating.
Storage
MicroSD storage up to 256 GB and FAT32 are listed. The documented packing list includes a 32 GB card; confirm the current accessory package when ordering.
Operator view
The interface provides image and palette options, camera movement controls and supported subject-following functions. Their availability depends on the matching software and firmware, not on a universal controller interface.

G120 buyer questions
- Is the 30x specification optical zoom?
- No. The specified configuration uses electronic magnification; the visible lens is a fixed 3.5 mm design.
- Does the camera record the same resolution that the operator sees live?
- The documented visible live view is 720p30, while visible local recording is 2880 × 1620 at 30 fps. Select each output according to the required result.
- What should accompany a G120 enquiry?
- Send the civil aircraft model, mounting space, viewing distance, intended visible/thermal task, controller and receiver models, and recording requirements. Ask for the camera version, mounting parts and cables in the quoted package.
