Contact width is not the only boundary
An FPV club's instructor compares cold tip footprints on an unpowered practice board, separate from any aircraft. This is invented; tool compatibility is assumed. No iron is heated.
HAKKO considers contact area, thermal mass, pad size and nearby components together.

- BBroader contact inside the pad, clear of its neighbor.
- COverhangs the pad and overlaps the neighbor.
A tiny patch is not automatically a better fit. B is the geometric candidate, not proof of heat transfer or joint quality. Ask the instructor to confirm the actual pad, neighboring height and suitable tool before progressing beyond this cold comparison.
