Viewpro A40TR Pro combines a 40× optical visible camera and a 640 × 512 thermal imager on a three-axis gimbal. It suits UAV projects that need a wide-to-telephoto visual range plus a separate infrared channel, with enough mounting space for this larger payload class.
The useful starting point is the inspection feature you need to see. Roof fittings, equipment housings and infrastructure details place different demands on the lens and the aircraft installation. A high zoom number is helpful when it matches that requirement; it is not a substitute for a suitable platform and a clear video workflow.

The visible lens provides 40× optical zoom across a published 4.25–170 mm focal range. This is lens magnification, separate from additional digital enlargement. It gives the camera a substantial change in framing between a scene overview and a closer view of a feature.
At higher magnification, less of the scene appears in the frame. For an inspection report, pair the close view with an overview that makes its location on the structure understandable.
The infrared channel uses a native 640 × 512 detector and 19 mm lens. It can show infrared contrast on surfaces that may look similar in ordinary video, making it relevant when the visual inspection also calls for a thermal view.
Do not read the visible camera's 40× optical zoom as the thermal lens specification. The two channels have different optics and different image characteristics.
| Project priority | Why A40TR Pro may fit | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Fine visible detail | 40× optical EO lens | The actual feature size and framing needed in the image |
| Visible and infrared observations | Separate EO and native 640 thermal channels | Whether both channels contribute to the inspection result |
| Aircraft integration | Three-axis payload with configuration-dependent video and control paths | Mounting clearance, the selected connector assembly and ground video input |
The manufacturer's A40TR Pro information describes Full HD video, micro-HDMI and IP output configurations, plus local MP4 recording. The output selection matters: an HDMI connection and a network RTSP stream require different receiving equipment. Network control functions also depend on the selected IP configuration.
The recorded camera file and the operator's display are separate parts of the workflow. A radio encoder or ground recorder may use a different setting from the onboard recording. Tell us where video must be displayed and where the inspection footage must be stored, rather than choosing the payload solely from a headline resolution.

A three-axis gimbal supports camera stabilization, but the installation still affects the recorded result. Aircraft vibration, damping, cables and the available movement envelope need attention, especially with a magnified image. A suitable damping arrangement and clear cable routing help preserve the camera view at higher magnification.
Likewise, a thermal picture is not automatically a calibrated temperature report. If your customer requires numerical measurements or a specific analysis file, include that requirement when discussing the thermal configuration. This page offers the imaging combination without promising a radiometric data format that has not been established.
Send FD the aircraft model, mounting dimensions and available payload allowance, together with the controller's HDMI or network video input. Describe the visual detail you need and whether the infrared channel is for live observation or a report. These details help narrow the camera configuration and mounting arrangement.
