The Viewpro A30T-50 combines a zoomable visible camera and a fixed-lens thermal imager in one three-axis drone payload. The EO channel offers 30x optical zoom; the infrared channel uses a 50mm lens and 640 × 512 detector. Consider this combination when a civil inspection needs both colour context and a thermal view of the asset. The two channels perform different jobs, so selecting the payload means checking the visible detail, infrared coverage and files required by the customer.

Give each imaging channel a clear job

EO: understand the visible scene

The Sony 1/2.8-inch Exmor R camera provides a Full HD visible picture through a 4.3–129mm optical lens. Use it to review the shape, position and visible surface context around an asset. The 30x optical range changes framing without calling a digital crop an optical increase.

IR: review the thermal pattern

The uncooled VOx infrared detector has a native 640 × 512 array with 12μm pixels. Its 50mm athermal lens is fixed. This is a different view of the asset, rather than a colour-camera night mode or an additional optical zoom range.

For a roof, utility installation or exposed industrial component, visible context can help a reviewer understand where the thermal view belongs. That does not mean the two pictures are automatically interchangeable. Before purchasing, decide which view is needed at each stage of the inspection and whether both must appear in the delivered evidence.

Choose around the thermal field of view

The manufacturer lists an infrared horizontal field of view of 8.8° for the fixed 50mm lens. The EO lens changes its framing through optical zoom. As a result, a visible overview and a thermal close view need to be evaluated as separate image requirements, rather than assuming one zoom command gives both channels the same coverage.

Decide what must be viewed and what must be saved

Viewpro lists micro HDMI at 1080p30/60 and IP RTSP/UDP at 1080p or 720p, 30fps. The quotation should identify the offered output arrangement and the format expected by the ground-side equipment. A camera output, an aircraft radio link and a display input are separate pieces of the viewing system.

Local file formats are part of the buying decision. The documented storage formats include 1080p30 MP4 and 1920 × 1080 JPG, with TF media up to 128GB of the specified class and format. Those file rasters do not change the infrared detector's native resolution. If a reporting application requires temperature values inside the saved image, request that exact deliverable before ordering.

Paired live views and recorded files should be considered independently. For example, an operator may need a clear viewing stream while the engineering team needs an original saved file for later review. Tell FD which output matters to each user so the proposed configuration can be checked against the actual work.

Make the aircraft package specific

The product information lists PWM, TTL and S.Bus control, with network control associated with IP output. It also distinguishes mounting versions and identifies endless yaw for the IP version. Choose the output, control and mount as one package; do not infer a complete fit from the sensor specification.

Confirm the supplied assembly's mass and dimensions against your aircraft allowance. The mount and hardware included in a quotation matter as much as the camera body. FD can review those details alongside the available power and cable arrangement, using the precise version offered for your UAV rather than a generic family specification.

EO/IR product questions

Is the 50mm thermal lens a 30x zoom lens?

No. The 30x optical specification belongs to the visible camera. The thermal lens is fixed at 50mm; the channels should be selected by their own viewing requirements.

Does this model include a laser rangefinder?

This product description covers the documented EO and IR imaging channels. If a separate ranging function is required, identify it in the enquiry so a suitable documented configuration can be considered.

What helps FD recommend this camera?

Describe the inspected asset, the need for visible and thermal views, the aircraft capacity, the receiver input and the files your customer expects. Include a representative scene where possible. These details make the choice between a dual-sensor payload and a simpler camera much clearer.

Discuss an A30T-50 EO/IR camera package with FD. We can align the offered sensor configuration, output and mounting version with the inspection result you need, then provide a quotation with the product scope identified.
