Select a 30x EO camera around the UAV installation

Viewpro U30T combines a 30x visible-light zoom camera with a two-axis stabilized gimbal. It is a practical candidate for civil VTOL or fixed-wing observation where the payload shape, camera movement and existing video connection matter as much as magnification. Begin with those installation requirements, then select the output and mounting configuration.

Decide what the operator needs to see

The 1/2.8-type STARVIS2 sensor provides Full HD imaging through a 4.3–129mm lens. At the wide end, the operator can see more of the scene; at the long end, the camera gives a narrower view of a selected feature. That supports visual checks of structures or land features when an ordinary wide-angle camera cannot provide the required framing.

U30T is an EO payload rather than a thermal camera. Better low-light sensitivity does not turn a visible image into a temperature map. Specify a separate thermal capability if the purpose of the flight is to inspect heat patterns.

Check the two-axis movement against the flight

The manufacturer's current illustration identifies U30T as a two-axis gimbal, and the specification lists pitch and yaw behavior. Buyers comparing it with a three-axis camera should review the intended aircraft attitude changes and the image horizon they need. An aerodynamic housing alone is not evidence that every installation will deliver the same image stability.

Viewpro lists continuous yaw for IP and SDI output versions, with bounded travel on the alternative configuration. Include the required pan behavior in the order specification, especially where the camera must repeatedly look around the aircraft.

Choose the airborne video path

Output choices are listed as micro HDMI, IP and SDI. They should be selected to match the transmitter or onboard computer already in the UAV. Network video can suit an Ethernet-based system; HDMI and SDI require the corresponding inputs. Do not plan a cable harness from the product name alone.

Common selection questions

Is U30T a 4K inspection camera? The current specification is Full HD 1920×1080. Choose it for its lens, sensor and installation fit; if the deliverable requires 4K files, compare a camera that specifically documents that recording format.

Does an IP4X rating mean it is waterproof? The rating includes no water-protection grade. Discuss the intended environment and aircraft protection rather than assuming the camera is suitable for flight in rain.

Can I reuse a mount from another Viewpro camera? Check the exact mounting drawing and output version first. Published pages show different mounting dimensions and weights, so these figures are deliberately not treated as a universal U30T installation envelope here.
