30x daylight zoom with a two-axis UAV payload

The YANGDA Sky Eye-U30 pairs a 30x optical zoom visible camera with a two-axis gimbal and Ethernet video. It is aimed at daytime aerial observation, including inspection of pipelines, mining sites and other infrastructure. The selection starts with two practical questions: does your aircraft suit a two-axis payload, and can your video link accept the camera's network stream?

Zoom changes the inspection frame

The 30x lens is specified at 4.3–129mm with a 1920×1080 image. An operator can establish the surrounding site in a wider frame, then examine a selected surface or piece of equipment more closely.

Two axes shape the installation

The gimbal provides pitch and unrestricted yaw movement. Evaluate the aircraft's roll behavior and the framing you need when comparing this design with a three-axis camera.

Is Sky Eye-U30 the right type of payload?

A visible zoom camera is useful when the customer needs to see markings, joints or the condition of an exposed surface. For a pipeline crossing, for example, a wider view helps establish the route while a tighter frame concentrates on a particular support. The required detail, lighting and airframe motion determine whether that closer image is useful. A larger zoom number alone does not establish a reliable observation distance.

Plan the connection around your drone

  1. Check the mount and mass allowance. YANGDA's specification lists 748±5g for the gimbal and camera. Include the fitted mount, cabling and any aircraft-side accessories in the final payload budget.
  2. Match power and video. The listed supply is 12V, and the camera provides Ethernet video. Identify the aircraft's regulated supply and the radio's accepted video input before selecting the package.
  3. Choose camera control. The specification lists S.Bus, UART and Ethernet. Decide whether the operator will use radio controls or ground software for pointing, zoom and recording.
  4. Decide where footage will be kept. Onboard recording is listed at 1080p/720p30 in MP4 format. Plan the card arrangement and file retrieval alongside the live viewing requirement.

Questions about deployment

Is this a three-axis gimbal? No. Sky Eye-U30 is listed as a two-axis model. Check its pitch/yaw movement and the aircraft's roll behavior against the view your inspection needs.

Does it replace a low-latency FPV flight camera? Its main role is steerable visible inspection imaging. A pilot's flight view has its own latency, coverage and reliability requirements, so assess that role separately.

Can the same setup inspect heat patterns at night? This is an EO camera. Choose a thermal or dual-sensor payload when the task specifically requires infrared imaging.
